Why do I need MahaSecure?

Through MahaSecure, access all your frequently used banking services through a single click. With the increasing usage of various devices for banking needs there is an equivalent increase in malicious threats that put your confidential information, identities at the risk of being stolen. In order to further strengthen the security measures to curb cyber crime incidents and to enhance your banking experience Bank of Maharashtra has launched MahaSecure.

Is it mandatory to use MahaSecure to access Bank of Maharashtra Internet Banking? Why?

Bank of Maharashtra has made use of MahaSecure mandatory to all the customers who perform net-banking activities such as online transactions, tax payment, online shopping etc. This is to ensure watertight security of all your confidential data and to protect you from any financial fraud.
Activate your MahaSecure

I am unable to access my internet banking account through the Bank of Maharashtra internet banking website. It displays the message "You have been enrolled for using MahaSecure by Bank of Maharashtra, please use MahaSecure for internet banking". What should I do now?

This means that you have been enrolled to use MahaSecure by Bank of Maharashtra. You will have 30 days period to download MahaSecure, post which you will not be able to proceed with internet banking without MahaSecure. You must have received MahaSecure activation credentials on your registered mobile number to activate MahaSecure. Follow the below simple steps to download and activate MahaSecure to continue with internet banking.
  • Log in to internet banking through https://www.mahaconnect.in
  • Click on download button
  • Run the downloaded.msi (Setup file)
  • After running the file, you will have a MahaSecure icon on your desktop. Double click on this icon to launch MahaSecure
  • Log-in to MahaSecure by entering your internet banking User ID
  • Enter activation code matching with verification key that you have received on your registered mobile number
  • Set secret question, provide secret answer for question. (Keep secret answer which is easy to remember)
  • Set 4 digit PIN which will be needed every time you log into MahaSecure

How can I download & activate MahaSecure?

  • You can download MahaSecure only if you have been enrolled to use MahaSecure by Bank of Maharashtra. If you have been enrolled, you would have received the activation credentials on your registered mobile number.
  • If you have been enrolled and you have received the activation credentials, then follow the below simple steps to download and activate MahaSecure.
    • Log in to internet banking through https://www.mahaconnect.in
    • Click on download button
    • Run the downloaded.msi (Setup file)
    • After running the file, you will have a MahaSecure icon on your desktop. Double click on this icon to launch MahaSecure
    • Log-in to MahaSecure by entering your internet banking User ID.
    • Enter activation code matching with verification key that you have received on your registered mobile number
    • Set secret question, provide secret answer for question. (Keep secret answer which is easy to remember)

While downloading MahaSecure from Bank of Maharashtra internet banking site, I am getting the error message: This file couldn't be downloaded. What do I do?

Please try downloading the file later. If this doesn't help and the error persists, it could be because "Do not save encrypted pages to disk option in Internet Explorer is selected". Follow instructions in this link to resolve the issue: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2549423

Why have I received an SMS with verification key and activation code of MahaSecure from Bank of Maharashtra?

This means that you have been enrolled for using MahaSecure for internet banking. Follow the below simple steps to download and activate MahaSecure to continue with internet banking.

I am connecting to Internet through a proxy, how should I set the proxy settings in MahaSecure?

  • Open internet explorer
  • Click on tools
  • Select Internet Options
  • Select tab Connections
  • Click on button LAN settings
  • You should be able to see the Proxy Server details such as IP address and port
  • For your Proxy UserID and Password contact your Networks team if you are not aware of the same
  • Please note down the Proxy Settings.
  • Try to access MahaSecure directly without specifying proxy settings - you will be prompted to provide proxy settings by MahaSecure.
  • Please enter the proxy settings in this MahaSecure interface to run MahaSecure with Internet connection from behind proxy server.

I have deleted/lost the activation credentials SMS from my phone. How do I regenerate the activation credentials?

If you have lost the activation credentials, Write to mahasecure@mahabank.co.in or put a request for regeneration of your MahaSecure token with your home branch. This will enable you to receive a new set of verification key and activation code. You can also call us at 1800 233 4526 / 1800 102 2636. Land line numbers: 020 24480797 / 24504117 / 24504118.

I did not receive any MahaSecure Activation Credentials, but when I try to login, the message is displayed You are enrolled for MahaSecure and activate MahaSecure using the Activation Credentials sent to me. What do I do?

What is the MahaSecure PIN? Why do I need MahaSecure PIN?

MahaSecure PIN is your unique 4 digit Personal Identification Number that you will need to set and remember, in order to log into MahaSecure for internet banking. You will set the MahaSecure PIN while activating it for the first time (or after subsequent reset).

Why do I need to create MahaSecure OTP?

You need MahaSecure OTP as an additional validation for activating MahaSecure on other devices. You should generate MahaSecure OTP in advance and carry it with you safely.

What is the security question? Is it necessary to remember the secret question and answer that I set for my MahaSecure?

It's an additional authentication step required when you try to use MahaSecure from any other personal computer than your registered computer on which you have already activated MahaSecure. Your secret question and answer should not be shared with anyone.

Can I access my Internet banking account from other browsers, after I have activated my MahaSecure?

  • Visit https://www.mahaconnect.in and login to your retail/corporate internet banking account through recommended browser.
  • You will be prompted to activate MahaSecure with options Yes and No
  • Click Yes and you will be taken to the download page of MahaSecure
  • Download and Install the MahaSecure on your Personal Computer that you generally use
  • Locate the Icon of MahaSecure on Desktop and double click on the same
  • You will be asked to enter the OTP
  • If you have generated MahaSecure OTP from your active and registered personal computer, then enter the MahaSecure OTP
  • If not, you will receive OTP ID and OTP on your registered mobile device
  • Verify if the OTP ID on MahaSecure is same as the one received by you as SMS
  • If the OTP ID matches, enter the OTP in the field provided as received through SMS
  • System will prompt you to enter MahaSecure PIN
  • Upon entering valid MahaSecure PIN you will be taken to the Internet Banking login page of Bank of Maharashtra with your User ID pre-populated.
  • Enter your Internet Banking Password and continue using your net-banking

To log in to Bank of Maharashtra internet banking through MahaSecure, I am unable to see virtual keyboard

  • Ensure Javascript is enabled in Internet Explorer (IE). To do this follow these steps
    • Go to IE >> Tools >> Internet Options >> Security >> Custom Level
    • Scroll down to the "Scripting" >> Active scripting option
    • Click on "Enable"
  • Please ensure virtual keyboard is working in regular Internet Explorer on the machine
    • Open IE
    • Enter URL https://www.mahaconnect.in
    • Click on Retail link on left side
    • On popup window, click on "Use Virtual Keyboard"
    • Ensure it shows the enable virtual keyboard on the right side of the login text box
Using a different device where MahaSecure is not Activated?

What do I do when I need to access my internet banking account from a computer where MahaSecure is not installed or activated?

  • Visit https://www.mahaconnect.in and login to your retail/corporate internet banking account through recommended browser.
  • As you are an activated user, you will be asked to download MahaSecure on this new machine.
  • Click on the download button.
  • Download and Install the MahaSecure
  • Locate the Icon of MahaSecure on Desktop and double click on the same
  • You will be asked to enter the answer to the secret question previously set by you.
  • If you have generated MahaSecure OTP from your active and registered personal computer, then enter the MahaSecure OTP activation key value
  • System will prompt you to enter MahaSecure PIN
  • Upon entering valid MahaSecure PIN you will be able to use MahaSecure in the same way you have done on the previously activated machines.
  • Enter your Internet Banking Password and continue using your net-banking

While accessing MahaSecure from a new device, I am facing an error "Your access from new computers has been blocked for security reasons."

This error indicates that the user has attempted to login from a new computer and has provided the wrong security answer and/or OTP. To resolve the issue, the user must login from a previously activated machine and generate a new OTP. The new OTP can then be used to activate a new machine. If the user does not have access to the old (previously activated) machine, they must call the HelpDesk to have their userid "reset".
Having Trouble Using MahaSecure?

My MahaSecure is blocked because I entered incorrect MahaSecure PIN for 4 consecutive times, what do I do now?

What if I have forgotten my MahaSecure security question and answer?

  • If you have access to personal computer on which your MahaSecure is active, please login to MahaSecure and locate the button Change Secrets in the control panel.
  • If you do not have access to your MahaSecure Active Personal Computer, put a request for regenerating your MahaSecure Token (UserID) by visiting your nearest BOM Branch or by writing to us on mahasecure@mahabank.co.in from your registered email address. You will receive MahaSecure activation credentials on SMS within 1 working day. Use these credentials to activate MahaSecure the way you did for the first time and continue with your net-banking.

I am not able to connect to MahaSecure; it says "Check your internet connection" even though I am connected to Internet?

Since the message to check your Internet connection and the one for Proxy settings error are clubbed together, we have to deal with it a little patiently.
  • Are you getting this message after double clicking the MahaSecure.exe or after providing User ID?
  • If the message appears right after double clicking the MahaSecure.exe, then please make sure that you are connected to Internet. You may be accessing Internet from behind proxy please make sure that you enter proxy settings in MahaSecure.
  • If you are connected to Internet, then it may be some temporary issue with ISP or Bank of Maharashtra Network -You should try again in some time.
  • Another possibility is that you may be within Proxy environment. Please enter the Proxy Credentials (IP, PORT, UserID, and Password) and try again.
  • If the message appears after entering UserID, then this could be due to the Antivirus program installed on the user's personal computer.
    • You should add MahaSecure.exe to the exclusion list of the Antivirus/Firewall program installed on your personal computer.
    • You should give MahaSecure 'Total (Full) access' in the application rules of the Firewall settings of the Antivirus program installed on your personal computer.

I am getting the message, 'Unable to create Secure Desktop'. What does it mean?

It means that you are running too many or a few very heavy applications in the background. Please try by closing some applications. MahaSecure requires some free memory to perform its own operations.

I am getting the message "Unable to connect to Bank of Maharashtra servers. Please check your Internet Connection and try again."

This error can occur due to one of the following reasons. Please see below for troubleshooting steps for each.
  • The machine is not connected to the Internet
  • The machine is behind a proxy
    • Please check your proxy settings. Ask your administrator for details of the proxy server IP and port as well as a user name/password if required. Once you have entered your proxy settings, check whether IE browser can load https://www.mahaconnect.in
  • The machine has a Firewall or AntiVirus that is blocking the connection
    • You will have to whitelist internet traffic from MahaSecure application to port 443 in the AnitVirus or Firewall. Since MahaSecure data is encrypted, the AV/Firewall cannot understand it and may block the connection. Please refer to your AV/Firewall documentation or customer service on how to allow traffic for "unknown protocol" to port 443.
  • The machine is on a LAN which has a firewall which blocks the connection
    • If you do not have a AV/Firewall or have already whitelisted it, please ask your network administrator whether the office uses a firewall which blocks the traffic. They may have to whitelist MahaSecure traffic to Bank of Maharashtra G/W server, port 443 for unknown protocol
